London to Paris
Cycling from London to Paris will be a great experience and an amazing challenge. I will begin the cycle ride from Greenwich, passing through the picturesque Kent countryside, then across the channel before venturing through the small villages and medieval market towns of Northern France, passing the famous battlefields of the Somme and Agincourt. My finishing point will be near the famous Paris landmark the Eiffiel Tower. After days of cycling and being in the saddle this will really give me a sense of achievement, and a taste for a nice cold French beer.
Road Training
We started our ride Sunday 9.30am from Burgh Heath, Surrey, A217, I say we meaning a mate of mine Craig who started me off cycling a few years ago. The first ride I did was London to Brighton. I enjoyed it that much I cycled a few more charity rides; anyway more of that at a later date, lets get back to my road training day. We carried on along the a217 until the Dorking rd b2032, carry on along that rd then turn right into Headley common rd, then a left onto Boxhill rd, up and over and back down the other side along the zig zag rd at the bottom, turn left onto Old London rd b2209, then left onto London rd, turn left onto Reigate Road, follow until you come to station rd, turn left onto the steep climp of pebble hill, ouch! Join back onto dorking rd b2032, carry on until your back to the a217 ( phew home is in site) finally made it to my front door after 18 miles of pushing peddles; Some great words from my partner Heather ("Would you like a nice cup of tea?") then get ready to take my daughter Connie to the cinema and hope i dont fall asleep!
